MIDTOWN — From glad-handing with President Obama to being named one of People en Espanol's most beautiful people, it was a good week for Ricky Martin.
The Puerto Rican pop star — one of the the stars who landed on this year's People en Espanol’s "50 Most Beautiful" honorees — walked the red carpet for the magazine's gala at the Plaza Hotel Tuesday evening, alongside a host of bejeweled and decked out women.
Onlookers chanted Martin's name while he posed for pictures, fresh from the Marquis Theater, where he is starring in "Evita."
"Super contento,” Martin said of how it felt to be included in People's list, a day after hosting a fundraiser for Barack Obama where he was feted for his stance on gay marriage.
Fellow honoree Thalia turned the tables on the bank of photographers, pulling out her phone and snapping pix of them while posing.
"Glee's" Naya Rivera took a break from promoting her show to vamp it up on the carpet. The actress, in an Art Deco-inspired sequined Naeem Khan gown, was blowing kisses to anyone in range.
“Celebrity Apprentice’s” Dayana Mendoza, the former Miss Universe from Venezuela, turned up, as did Giselle Blondet, recently seen on the Heart Truth’s Red Dress catwalk.
While husband Jorge Posada was in Baltimore with the Yankees, wife Laura Posada took the carpet in a gorgeous orange gown. Former home run slugger Sammy Sosa and his wife Sonia also took to the carpet.
Other honorees in attendance included Cuban television host Lili Estefan, Venezuelan actress Alicia Machado, Mexican actress Ana Brenda, Venezuelan actor Alejandro Chabán, Dominican television host Charytín Goico, Venezuelan television host Chiquinquira Delgado and Colombian actress Maritza Rodriguez.
