STATEN ISLAND — A 41-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after a tense standoff with cops at a Westerleigh apartment building, police said.

The man, whose name has not been released, barricaded himself in a second-floor apartment at 23 Sheraden Ave. about noon, police said.

Some 30 cops from the Emergency Services Unit, Hostage Negotiations and Technical Assistance Response Unit were called in to help bring the man — who police sources said was emotionally disturbed and unstable — out of the apartment safely.

The man appeared to be alone in the unit.

After about two hours, the man was taken into custody without incident, police said.

Charges against him are pending.
