Man Found Dead in Fire in Forest Park

NEW YORK CITY — A man was found dead under a pile of burning garbage inside Forest Park in Woodhaven  Saturday, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the park around 6 a.m. to put out a garbage fire inside the park near Park Lane South and discovered the body after putting out the fire, an FDNY spokesman said. 

The victim, who was severely burned, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner's office had not yet determined a cause of death on Sunday aftenoon. Police said the investigation was ongoing.
