BROOKLYN — A hit-and-run driver struck a 5-year-old boy in a ShopRite parking lot in Midwood Tuesday before fleeing, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was in the lot at McDonald Avenue and Avenue I about 3:45 p.m. when the vehicle hit him, cops said.

He was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center. His condition was not immediately known, but police said his injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver bolted after hitting the boy, and there was no immediate description of the driver or the vehicle, police said.

A manager at the supermarket declined to comment.
