MANHATTAN — Mexican pride was on display Sunday as New Yorkers celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a colorful parade on the Upper West Side.

The festivities, which featured music and dance, made their way down Central Park West from 110th Street to 97th Street.

"Today is really important for both Mexico and the United States of America and Central America too," Lucia Perez, 41, told DNAinfo. "I'm very proud to be here today."

The holiday, which was Saturday, celebrates the Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
