Cops Arrest Second Suspect in Harlem Pharmacy Robbery

By Wil Cruz | April 24, 2012 10:59am

HARLEM — A man who fled a Harlem pharmacy amid a wild shootout with police that left his partner dead has been arrested, police said.

Luis Hiraldo, 19, of the South Bronx, was captured out of state early Tuesday, the NYPD said. The department's violent felony squad, with the help of U.S. marshals, caught the man in Rhode Island, the source added.

Hiraldo is suspected of fleeing the Rx Center Pharmacy at 2325 First Ave. on April 12.  He and Rudolph Wyatt, 23, of East Harlem — who was armed with a .32-caliber handgun — stormed into the drugstore in search of the drugs Oxycontin and Percocet, police said.

Cops responded to the scene and bullets started flying. A retired police lieutenant, who was at a nearby gas station, shot Wyatt dead, authorities said at the time.

The NYPD set off a massive manhunt for the other suspect, releasing video and images of the man they believed robbed the store and fired at police.

Hiraldo is facing burglary and robbery charges, police added.
