BROOKLYN — A 26-year-old man with a long rap sheet allegedly killed his girlfriend before jumping to his death from a Williamsburg building, police sources said Wednesday.
Efriam Gabourel allegedly stabbed Liliana Belfor, 29, to death and left her in a tub in his 325 Roebling St. apartment at the Williams Plaza Houses before bolting upstairs to the building's roof, police said.
"There were loud voices, slamming doors," said a tenant who has lived in the building for 35 years. "I didn't open mine. I just looked through the peephole."
His mom, who was not identified, called 911, sources said.
When cops arrived just after 8 p.m., they found Belfor bloodied and unresponsive. Witnesses told them they saw Gabourel flee to the roof, police said.
That's when police said Gabourel jumped from the roof of the 21-story building to his death.
"He fell so hard he bent the bar," said Tony Colon, 47, who heard a loud thud while sitting outside of the building Tuesday night, referring to a fence on which Gabourel fell.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, but there was no reviving Gabourel, police said.
"He probably wanted to end it that way [rather] than spend his life in jail," Colon, who has lived in the neighborhood for 45 years, added.
Belfor was pronounced dead at the scene, too, police said.
"He was quiet, but I didn't think he'd do this," said Jesus Aponte, 33, a friend of Gabourel who described him as a loner. "Everybody is going to try and figure this out for themselves for a while."
The couple had a history of fighting sources said, with at least one domestic incident report on record.
Gabourel has a troubled past, too, sources said. He has 12 prior arrests, with alleged crimes ranging from robbery to burglary to assault.
