BROOKLYN — A two-alarm fire broke out in a home in Bay Ridge Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The fire started around 3 p.m. on the back deck of a two-story, single-family house on 76th Street near Fifth Avenue.

Lori Duggan Gold, 47, who owns the house, said no one was home when the fire broke out. Her neighbors called the fire department when they saw the flames and smoke.

Twenty-five units with more than 100 firefighters responded to the scene just a few minutes after it started, a fire spokesman said.

“The fire department was outstanding," Duggan Gold said. "They were here incredibly fast.”

Duggan Gold said her home suffered damage to its backyard and first floor, and there was minor damage in two second-floor bedrooms.

No injuries were reported.
