Police are searching for an alleged police impersonator who they say pulled off a rent scam in Kingsbridge.

Anthony Gonzalez, 48, allegedly displayed a shield and told a couple he was a detective as negotiated a $200 a month rent on two rooms inside an apartment at 2825 Claflin Ave., police said.

The forked over a $2300 security deposit and Gonzalez gave them a set of keys, but when they went to the apartment, they were unable to get in, police said.

Gonzalez is is described as 5’4” tall and 180 pounds. He has a scar on the left side of his face, a tattoo of a skull on his right arm, a tattoo of a heart on his left arm and the word NETA tattooed across his chest.
