UPPER WEST SIDE — Maverick would be jealous.
A pair of military jets blazed down the Hudson River Monday morning in a series of dramatic passes that wowed onlookers as part of preparation for an upcoming military show.
The F-18 jets, part of the Navy's "Blue Angels" demonstration unit, made two passes at speeds of up to 345 mph and as low as 500 feet between the Verrazano and George Washington bridges around 10 a.m., according to NJ.com.
“The wind is brutal but it’s such a nice day to see the planes,” said Scott Foster, 40, of the Upper West Side, who stood outside beginning at 8:45 a.m. to catch a glimpse of the fighter planes.
“I can spend the whole day watching planes going up and down from the airport,” added Foster, an assistant director in the film industry who is a plane fanatic.
According to NJ.com, the flyover was in preparation for an upcoming show in May to commemorate the War of 1812.
