STATEN ISLAND — About 120 homes were left without power after a transformer fire broke out in Westerleigh Monday morning, authorities said.

The fire burned a hole through a wooden utility pole on Purdy and Warwick avenues, knocking down three primary electrical lines after the blaze was put out, fire officials said.

The FDNY, which received a call about the blaze at 8:26 a.m., were not immediately sure what caused the fire, officials said at the scene.

Con Edison workers were at the location and expected the power to be restored about noon, a spokesperson said.
