BROOKLYN — Ten people, including at least four students, were injured after a school bus crashed in Coney Island Monday morning, authorities said.

The minor wreck occurred about 8 a.m. at the corner of Bay 54th and Cropsey streets as the bus was headed to I.S. 281 Joseph B. Cavallaro, the FDNY and witnesses said.

Ethel Alleyne, 69, said she got a frantic phone from her grandson, Xavier Rivera, 11, just a few minutes after dropping him on the school bus.

"He said, 'Grandma, the bus had an accident. I'm a little nervous, but I'm okay,'" Alleyne said.

An FDNY spokesman said 10 people were injured in the smashup. Nine of the people hurt were taken to Coney Island Hospital, he said.

The other person refused medical attention at the scene, fire officials said.

None of the injuries appeared to be serious, he added.

At least four of the victims were students riding on the bus, the FDNY said.

The NYPD or the Department of Education did not immediately have any information about the accident.
