BRONX — A man opened fire at an off-duty NYPD sergeant with the cop's gun in Throgs Neck Thursday morning, authorities said.
The gunplay erupted in front of a home on Plymouth Avenue, near Middletown Road, around 10 a.m., according to cops.
Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said the sergeant had just dropped off his son at his estranged wife's home when a fight broke out between him and her boyfriend.
"[The boyfriend] took [the officer's] gun somehow," said Kelly. "He fired shots - fired shots in the air, fired shots at his car.”
No one was injured, and the suspect was taken into custody. Charges were not immediately filed.
The officer's name was not immediately available.
