OPENINGS:

The former Biddy Early's pub at 43 Murray St., known for rowdy drinking games, reopened Thursday as Woodrow's, an Irish-American tavern. With 24 beers on tap and a selection of whiskeys and bourbons, there will still be plenty to drink at the renovated former dive, but bar-goers will be able to round out their evening with some food as well. The steakhouse-style menu includes a 12-ounce New York strip steak with whiskey peppercorn sauce and a range of burgers, salads and fries.

Health-conscious TriBeCa residents no longer have to inhale chemical fumes while getting their hair done, thanks to the new Hale Organic Salon at 91 Franklin St. The environmentally friendly salon uses all-natural products that are safe for expectant moms, and the 2,200-square-foot space features many salvaged materials, including wood from a 200-year-old barn, Tribeca Citizen reported.

The food trucks that rolled into Battery Park City at the beginning of February were instantly popular — so popular that Brookfield Office Properties and the NYC Food Truck Association increased the roster of trucks. To shorten lines and give outdoor diners more options, the lot at North End Avenue and Vesey Street is now hosting five trucks a day instead of four. The rotating weekday schedule, which includes Rickshaw Dumplings, Mexicue and Taim Mobile, is available on the World Financial Center's website.

J. Crew has opened a new menswear boutique called The Ludlow Shop at 50 Hudson St., replacing the former Crewcuts kids' store. In addition to J. Crew's trademark slim-fitting suits, the shop also carries sweaters, ties, dress shirts, socks and other accessories, Tribeca Citizen reported.

In a nod to Downtown's growing family population, longtime electronics retailer J&R opened J&R Jr., a kid-friendly shop, in an annex at 23 Park Row. The 15,000-square-foot store features everything from picture books to $850 strollers and also has space for parents to hang out and play with their children.

COMING SOON:

The team behind East Village cocktail lounge Death & Co. is bringing the same trendy vibe to the Financial District with the soon-to-launch Demi Monde at 90 Broad St., with an entrance on Stone Street. A street-level coffee bar will be open during the day, while an underground small-plates restaurant and cocktail bar will serve the evening crowd. The venue will open soon, according to its Twitter account, but the owners have not yet announced a date.

After the first Potbelly sandwich shop in Manhattan drew long lines to 101 Maiden Lane, the national chain is opening another location not too far away at 280 Broadway. The new Potbelly will begin serving customers next week, Tribeca Citizen reported.

CLOSINGS:

The Waterstone Grill, 79 Pearl St., has closed. The owners have new plans for the space but aren't ready to share them yet, a representative said.
