Steven Santiago Dies After Saving Filmmaker from SI Railway

STATEN ISLAND — A man who was struck by a train after saving a filmmaker who fell onto the tracks at a Staten Island Railway station has died from his injuries a month after the incident, according to published reports.

Steven Santiago, 39, was critically injured when he leaped into action to save Jonathan Parisen, 40, who had stumbled onto the tracks at the New Dorp station on Jan. 8, the Daily News said.

"I was just informed that Steven Santiago passed away today," Parisen tweeted. "My prayers go out to Steven and his family. God bless."

Santiago had been moved to a rehab center, but died at 4 a.m. Saturday, according to the News.
