Police Searching for Man in Attempted Queens Rape

QUEENS — Police are hunting a man who tried to rape a woman near her Queens home Sunday night.

The man grabbed a 25-year-old woman from behind about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, shoved her to the ground and tried to rape her, the NYPD said. The attacker then fled after the victim began to scream, running off with her purse, police added.

The suspect is described as 25 to 35 years old, standing about 6 feet and weighing 210 pounds, police said. He has short black hair and was wearing a gray jacket at the time, police added.
