Wednesday February 8

Primus play Wednesday night at the  Music Hall Of Williamsburg, celebrating the release of their first studio album in 12 years, "Green Naugahyde". From their launch way back in 1984, Primus have crafted a virtuosic bass-driven metal-funk, eventually hitting the mainstream in 1993. If you're a fan of fine bass-playing, keep your eye on Primus's founder and main songwriter Less Claypool - he's one of the best bassmen around.

Thursday February 9

Thursday night sees Welsh singer Cate Le Bon at the Mercury Lounge. Cate's second album "Cyrk" is a shaggy guitar folk-rock affair recalling Nico-era Velvet Underground and even early '70s Jonathan Richman. Cate is also a member of fellow countryman Gryff Rhys's (Super Furry Animals) electro-pop project Neon Neon

Also tonight: Tune-Yards at  Allen Room, Lincoln Center as part of the American Songbook series.

Friday February 10

Wale recently launched his second studio album "Ambition". Hear tracks from the soulful hip hop artist Friday night at Irving Plaza.

Saturday February 11

The Kills and Jeff The Brotherhood join forces for a satisfyingly punchy indie rock bill at Terminal 5 Saturday night. The Kills is a duo combining Kate Moss's husband Jamie Hince and singer Alison Mosshart - Alison's also in The Dead Weather with Jack White. The Kill's 2011 album "Blood Pressures" is explained by Jamie as "Obsessive and claustrophobic." He said, "After we’d made the record, Alison and I talked about the theme - there’s a lot about gender, about relationships - it’s about sex – so, blood pressures". Support band Jeff The Brotherhood (a two-piece, formed by brothers Jake and Jamin Orrall) play heavy, fuzzy power pop and are well worth getting to the gig on time for. Their latest album "We Are The Champions" is their fifth studio album since 2002. Their star is on the rise.

Sunday February 12

Guns N' Roses, with singer Axl Rose as the only member from their superstar days (1987-1993), play Terminal 5 Sunday night. (Also Friday 10th at Roseland Ballroom and Wednesday 15th at Webster Hall). Expect tracks from the much delayed "Chinese Democracy" album, which finally surfaced in 2008 after 14 years in the studio. Worth the wait?

Monday February 13

The annual Tibetan House Benefit Concert is happening Monday night at Carnegie Hall. Tibet House promotes and preserves Tibetan culture by serving as both a cultural center in New York City and an online global resource for those interested in Tibetan civilization. A stellar and varied lineup includes Laurie Anderson, Antony, James Blake, Das Racist, Tim Fain, Philip Glass, Stephin Merritt, Lou Reed and Dechen Shak-Dagsay.

Tuesday February 14

Barry Manilow at Radio City Music Hall. Hey, It's Valentine's Day.
