UPPER WEST SIDE  — A fire broke out at a high-rise apartment building on Amsterdam Avenue Tuesday evening, injuring five people, authorities said.

The blaze began on the third floor of 711 Amsterdam Ave., near West 94th Street, shortly after 6:30 p.m., the FDNY said.

Three people were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries, including a firefighter, while the other two victims declined medical attention at the scene, fire officials said.

Crews were still working to bring the blaze under control at the 26-story building more than an hour after it started, the FDNY said.
