Robber Caught on Video Strikes Twice in One Day, Police Say

BRONX — A bandit claiming to have a gun ripped off two stores in the South Bronx within hours last month, authorities said.

The suspect's spree began at a grocery store at 1274 Bronx River Ave., near Evergreen Avenue, at 8:15 a.m. on Jan. 27, police said.

There, he allegedly hopped behind the counter, claimed to have a gun, and punched a worker in the face before fleeing with cash from the register.

The victim sustained minor injuries, police said.

Less than two hours later, he allegedly hit Caps Unlimited at 962 Southern Blvd., telling a 19-year-old female employee he had a gun and then grabbing cash from the register.

Police said the suspect is 25 to 30-years-old, around 200 pounds and 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8.
