HUDSON SQUARE — A bike messenger was seriously injured Thursday after he struck a lane divider near the Holland Tunnel and fell off his bike, officials said.

The cyclist, who was bleeding from the mouth and suffering from multiple seizures after the accident at Varick and Dominick streets, was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.

"He was spitting up blood like a volcano," said witness Billy Kisic.

Kisic said the cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was traveling south on Varick Street about 2:30 p.m. when he tried to make a right turn onto Dominick Street.

His bike collided with a barrier in the middle of the street sending him careening into the concrete.
