MANHATTAN — As if the New York-Boston rivalry wasn’t heated enough, a Midtown bar is banning the sale of Samuel Adams beer for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup between the Giants and Patriots.

Foley’s NY Pub & Restaurant on West 33rd Street made the move to prohibit the sale of the Beantown-brewed suds Sunday only, when Big Blue will square off against New England in the big game, a staffer confirmed.

Bar owner Shaun Clancy told the Yes Network that he will encourage patrons to drink Gotham’s own Brooklyn Ale instead.

This is the second banishment Foley’s has made headlines with in recent years. In 2008, owner Clancy decided he’d heard enough of the song “Danny Boy” in his two decades behind the bar, and banned the singing of the Irish ballad on St. Patrick’s Day.

Clancy also made made a Super Bowl bet with Boston sports bar owner Ken Casey, front man of the Boston-based punk rockers the Dropkick Murphy’s, Yes reported.

Each bar owner has agreed that the loser will travel 200 miles to the winning owner’s city to work a shift while wearing the other team’s jersey.
