MANHATTAN — A New Jersey man who brazenly stole a Mercedes-Benz from a Midtown dealership last August has surrendered to police — but the whereabouts of the luxury vehicle remain a mystery.
Denarious Jenkins, 39, who lives in Bloomfield, N.J., turned himself into the Midtown North Precinct on Saturday for allegedly stealing the sedan — which ranges in price from $100,000 to $120,000 — on Aug. 9 from the dealership at 770 11th Ave., police said.
He was charged with grand larceny, cops added.
Jenkins allegedly swiped the car when its owner dropped it off for servicing.
Victor Hill, who was getting his car serviced for the first time at the dealership Thursday, said he was shocked by the theft.
"That's crazy. I can't even imagine what must've been going through that guy's mind to steal from a dealership," Hill said.
"It's really surprising that that would happen here," he added. "This place is highly secure. There are video cameras everywhere. They log in every car. The service is excellent."
The Mercedes-Benz is still missing, police noted.
Workers at the dealership declined comment.
