A pre-dawn blaze at 974 Sheridan Avenue in the Bronx on Wednesday appears to be suspicious, officials said.

The single-alarm fire broke out in a fourth-floor apartment in the six-story South Bronx building just after 3 a.m., fire officials said.

Firefighters battling the blaze noticed that separate fires had been sparked in an apartment, raising suspicion, officials said.

The fire was under control about a half hour later, and no injuries were reported.

Fire marshals are investigating.
