UPPER WEST SIDE — About 50 spectators watched children dress up as historical figures for a DiMenna Children’s History Museum competition on Wednesday.
A half dozen elementary school-aged kids practiced walking, talking and acting like their favorite historical figures at the museum on Central Park West, between 76th and 77th streets. Finalists for the costume prize included a British redcoat and two American colonialists.
The redcoat won the best "about face" prize in a costume made by his mother, according to a museum spokesman.
The contest was part of the museum's winter break series of events this week. The events include a scavenger hunt, historical art making and history quiz.
