CHINATOWN — A woman was sexually assaulted during a robbery attempt in broad daylight in Chinatown, police said.
The suspect, who is still at large, allegedly approached the 40-year-old victim at Monroe and Catherine streets on Dec. 18 at 7:50 a.m.
He allegedly followed the victim into a nearby building, grabbed her and then tried to steal her handbag before fleeing, police said.
The attack comes just months after a Bronx man was arrested for sexually assaulting two teenage girls nearby, threatening to behead one of the victims.
The man is described as 25-30 years old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9 and was wearing dark pants and a blue waist-length jacket at the time of the incident.
