MANHATTAN —  Four people were hurt in front of the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 movie theater Tuesday after a taxi jumped the curb while it was backing up, knocking over a traffic light into bike racks, FDNY officials and sources said.

The crash occurred at 2:46 p.m. in front of the popular movie theater on Broadway and West 68th Street, which is showing such flicks as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol" on IMAX.

One person was taken to New York University hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said. The other three also had minor injuries, with two of the victims refusing medical attention. It was unclear whether the patients were pedestrians or passengers in the cab.

"I heard the screech of brakes and a bang, then a scream," said Dirk Vandenheuvel, 77, an Upper West Sider who witnessed the aftermath. "Then everyone came running over."

He said he saw a bleeding woman lying on the ground near the downed traffic light. A man lying in the "fetal position" near her was also taken to the hospital.

It was not immediately clear if the driver was among the injured or what caused the accident.
