MANHATTAN — A 17-year-old riding his bicycle was struck and killed by a truck in Harlem Friday, authorities said.

The boy, who was not named by authorities, was riding westbound on 125th Street near Fifth Avenue around 12:30 p.m. when he was hit by a truck, police said.

"I heard a crack," witness Juan Rosa said. It sounded like "air coming out of him."

Rosa, 36, of Harlem, said he turned around and saw the teenager face down on the pavement, his fixed gear bicycle nearby. "Three or four minutes later, blood started to hemorrhage out of him."

The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver stopped and remained at the scene. Police said there was no criminality and he was not charged.
