MANHATTAN — A firefighter was injured in a smoky blaze at an Upper East Side building Saturday afternoon that forced tenants on three floors to evacuate, officials said.
The fire broke out at 141 E. 89th St., near Lexington Avenue, just before 2:30 p.m., according to the FDNY.
"I saw a lot of smoke coming from the window," said Khaled Khandarkar, 38, the doorman at a nearby building.
A fire chief said that tenants from the 7th, 8th and 9th floors were evacuated.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries battling the blaze and was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital.
The cause was under investigation.
