Lady Gaga's Workshop, Crafts, Luxury Bags and Pharmacy Hit UES

OPENINGS:

Bottega Veneta opened a women's only "concept store" at 849 Madison Ave., which the luxury goods retailer said with have a "precisely edited selection" of handbags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, sunglasses and fragrance. The store, which is Bottega Veneta's second in New York City, is part of a larger plan to create specialized boutiques tailored to specific neighborhoods. "In cities where the brand is well defined, we can offer customers the choice of a more intimate shopping experience, in their own neighborhood, in a store where the products have been selected especially for them," Bottega Veneta Creative Director Tomas Maier said in a statement.

Patagonia opened a "Tin Shed Concept Store" at 1491 Third Ave., at East 84th Street, where it will be serving cups of hot cider all winter long amid its sporty gear. The store will be in town through April.

City Drugs envisions itself as a boutique pharmacy of the future, opening a sleek white modern space at 1273 First Ave. next Wednesday, that caters to health conscious New Yorkers — and their pets. This 1,600-square-foot space on First Avenue, between East 68th and 69th streets, includes an in-house pharmacist and nutritionist providing custom-tailored recommendations, working in consultation with a patient's doctor and cross-checking every drug and supplement for possible conflicts.  "All the pharmacy boutiques are on Madison Avenue. So, we're bringing luxury to First Avenue," Julia Sarukhanova, the shop's pharmacist, said.

Barneys is opening Lady Gaga's Workshop at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 21, bringing a holiday extravaganza with over-the-top window displays and limited-edition products created in collaboration with Lady Gaga. Shoppers will enter through the 660 Madison Ave. store’s 60th Street entrance, which will be tricked out to make people feel like they’re walking into the mouth of a giant monster-like Lady Gaga, Barneys officials said. The displays are also under the creative direction of Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti.

Make Meaning opened its second Upper East Side location, bringing cake decorating, soap, candle, ceramic, glass, jewelry and paper classes to a 10,000 square foot space at 1501 Third Ave., between 84th and 85th streets. The space for adults and kids has a retail boutique filled with a "Glitter Tattoo Parlor" and "Hair-Hauteness Hair Feathers Lounge," where guests can get professional, luxe feathers applied. It also has two floors for private parties and is hoping to attract bridal parties, baby showers and corporate events.

Denim Habit, which carries high-end jeans like J Brand, DL 1961 and Hudson, opened a third Manhattan store at 1335 Third Ave., between 76th and 77th Streets, according to Women's Wear Daily via Racked.com.

CLOSINGS:

The floral store, 212 Bouquet, known for its dramatic window displays, closed at 1325 Lexington Ave.

ON THE HORIZON:

Women's designer clothing boutique called Wink, with outposts in SoHo and the Upper West Side, is moving in 1330 Third Ave. at 76th Street, a space that had originally been leased by French pastry chef Francois Payard. Wink is expected to open before Christmas said Stephen Werther, who runs the business with his wife.
