By Tom Liddy | November 5, 2011 12:56pm

MANHATTAN — He was hungry for cash, police say.

A thief struck two Chelsea restaurants within an hour earlier this week — stealing a tip jar in one of the incidents, officials said.

The suspect first struck at Soul Fixins at 225 W. 28th St. on Nov. 2 at 8:50 p.m., police said.

According to officials, he claimed to have a gun, grabbed the tip jar and fled.

Less than an hour later, the suspect allegedly hit a Blimpie at 67 W. 23rd St. and asked for coffee.

When the cashier opened the drawer, the suspect grabbed some cash and fight broke out, according to police.

The suspect, who is described as 25-years-old and 5-foot-7, then fled.

Anyone with tips can call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, log onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or text 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
