FINANCIAL DISTRICT — The battle on Wall Street this weekend won't be between protesters and the NYPD — it will be between Batman and the bad guys.
The third installment of the Batman trilogy, "The Dark Knight Rises," will film on and around Wall Street this weekend using fake gunfire, according to notices posted around the neighborhood.
"The scenes we will be filming will have simulated gunfire and automatic weapon fire," the notice from Subconscious Productions said.
"Be assured, we are working in close cooperation with the NYPD Movie and Television Unit as well as the FDNY."
A spokeswoman for the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting said the city and the production company were still finalizing details of the shoot, but added that all simulated gunfire will occur during the day and will not be very loud.
The filming will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the notice, which listed the production under its code name, "Magnus Rex." A spokeswoman from the mayor's office confirmed that the shoot is for the Batman film.
Affected blocks include parts of Wall Street, Broadway, Beaver Street, William Street, Broad Street, Pine Street, Pearl Street, Water Street, Front Street, Old Slip and Battery Place. Cars parked on affected blocks after 10 p.m. Friday may be towed, the notice added.
That same area has frequently seen Occupy Wall Street marches over the past seven weeks, including several tense clashes between protesters and police that have led to arrests.
Subconscious Productions did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Producers have been scouting extras for film in Manhattan, and planned to shoot in the city for two weeks.
"The Dark Knight Rises," directed by Christopher Nolan and starring Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Anne Hathaway, is slated for release next summer.
