WEST VILLAGE — The Village Halloween Parade will provide scares not only for revelers, but also commuters trying to get through the neighborhood.

Sixth Avenue will be closed from Canal Street to 17th Street, according to the NYPD. The route will shut down from 5 p.m. through midnight.

Dominick Street will be closed from Varick Street to Sixth Avenue; Sullivan Street will be closed from Broome to Spring streets; Spring will be closed between Sullivan and Varick streets; and Broome Street will be closed between Sullivan and Varick streets.

People lining up to march in the parade will have to enter on Sixth Avenue from the east and south between Canal and Spring streets between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The parade kicks off at 7 p.m.

Parade organizers warned that crowds will be most dense between Bleecker and 14th streets, so parade-goers are advised to get there early or pick a spot north or south of that area.

Buses along Sixth Avenue, including the M5 and M7 will be re-routed during the parade, according to the MTA.

The parade will likely make it more difficult for commuters who drove into the city because of New Jersey Transit service disruptions. Drivers will have to use either the Canal or Varick street entrances.
