MANHATTAN — A man who was taken into custody for shooting two men in East Harlem Thursday — killing one — told investigators that he turned the tables on a pair of armed robbers, police sources said.
Jaquan Wilson, 18, of The Bronx, was killed and a 26-year-old man wounded in the gunfire at 2383 Second Ave., near East 122nd Street, just after 12:30 p.m.
A source said the 36 year-old shooting suspect, whose name was not released because he was not immediately charged, told investigators that he had been the victim of a robbery on the 19th floor of the building, where he lived.
But he claimed that he was able to wrestle a gun away from one of the men before turning it on both of them.
Cops said that Wilson was shot multiple times and was taken to Harlem Hospital where he died. The 26-year-old man was hit in the buttocks and listed in stable condition.
Police could not immediately verify the alleged shooter's story. A gun was recovered by police from the scene.
A neighbor said the suspected shooter is a "family man" with three children.
