MANHATTAN — The high-ranking cop caught on video pepper spraying Occupy Wall Street protesters in Union Square earlier this month was transferred to Staten Island, according to published reports.

Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna was quietly moved to his home borough, where he is acting as a special projects coordinator, according to the Daily News.

Bologna, a 30-year NYPD veteran, was docked two weeks pay for the incident on Sept. 24, in which he was seen on video tape hitting a group of women with the noxious spray.

The tape, which was posted on YouTube, sparked outrage and galvanized the protest movement.

It also preceded a series of clashes between the protesters and police, including one on the Brooklyn Bridge the next weekend in which over 700 people were arrested.

Sources told DNAinfo.com that Bologna felt "tortured" by the incident, but believed he acted with the appropriate amount of force.

After the video went viral, Bologna and his family, whose names and addresses were posted online, received death threats.

One of the women who was sprayed, Kaylee Dedrick, has been pushing for felony assault charges against Bologna.
