MANHATTAN —  An Upper East Side man has been arrested in connection to the murder of his roommate, who was found dead Thursday when marshals were sent to the apartment to evict him.

Shuan Dyer, 46, was charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of his roommate at East 62nd Street between First and Second avenues, police said.

Earlier, the NYPD could not rule out if the victim, who has been identified in reports as David Shahda, 47, had been mauled to death by a pit bull that lived in the apartment. Sources told the Daily News the murder victim was found with a severe head injury and defensive wounds.

City marshals reportedly headed to the home around noon Thursday to issue an eviction notice for unpaid rent, but were blocked from entering the the walk-up by a white pit bull, named Bones, who was covered in blood, the New York Post reported.

Police called Dyer, who reportedly inherited the apartment from his family, to let officials into the apartment, then brought him in for questioning.

Dyer has a lengthy criminal record, including for assault, the Post reported.

The dog was taken away by Animal Care and Control hours after the incident, according to reports.
