WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Move over Milan, Paris, London and Rome.

Northern Manhattan's up-and-coming eco-friendly fashion designers hit the runway Sunday with designs that not only showcase new clothing lines, but also encourage environmental conservation.

The brainchild of the House of Glam and supported by local District 10 Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, the one-of-a-kind fashion show, held in Highbridge Park, highlighted 11 designers.

They were united by an aim to inspire and create awareness about the current issues of eco-friendly fashion and to empower its sustainability through their own unique and independent visions of modern styles.

"It's great to see how upcoming, independent designers work with materials that are also good for the environment," Gina Constanza, founder of the House of Glam, told DNAinfo.

"Shifting fashion to be more sustainable and eco-friendly in their work is just the beginning," she added.

Constanza, also a stylist and personal shopper, is determined to put all of her commitment behind this initiative.

Some of the designers that showed their new collections included Lissy Gomez from LVG Designs, Marlissa Macario, Wendel Johnson, Lajuanda Moody and Tom Sohung.

"All the designers here today are committed to reducing carbon footprints with this new clothing style," said Constanza.

Designs at Sunday's outdoor event were worn by over 60 models from the KB Modeling Agency.
