Manhattan - There are many different ways to tango, and just as many different ways to dress for the dance: from strappy, flexible heels in nude, metallic and polka-dots — to summer dance dresses in bright blues, true reds and coral colors.

DNAinfo visited three locations across Manhattan during a single midsummer's week where tango music played and tango dancers congregated.

At Pier 45, in the West Village, tango dancers had a dazzling array of shoes on display.

In Central Park, it was all about the dresses.

And at the Tango on the Square event at Union Square Park, dancers dressed for the occasion more formally, featuring black and white.

The dancers said their philosophy of tango was simple, but sometimes the circumstances of the dance ran on the racy side.

"My husband will not allow me to tango at night, only in the day," said one mysterious tango-phile, while others were more even more blunt.

"Please do not take my picture, I am a married woman and my husband does not know I am here," added one woman.
