MANHATTAN — Singer Gavin DeGraw was beaten up in the East Village early Monday, suffering a broken nose and cuts to his face after an altercation on the street, police said.

The 34-year-old musician was attacked on East Sixth Street near First Avenue sometime around 4 a.m. Monday after a night out drinking with friends, according to police and the New York Post.

DeGraw — who co-owns the performance venue National Underground on East Houston Street — exchanged words with three men before one of them punched him in the face, police sources said.

After leaving the scene, he was then struck by a cab near East 19th Street and First Avenue but not seriously injured, the Post said.

DeGraw remained at Bellevue Hospital Monday night following the attack, police said. Detectives are currently investigating the incident.

The Catskills native is known for such hits as “Chariot” and “I Don’t Want to Be,” which is the theme song for the long-running television show “One Tree Hill.”
