MIDTOWN — Two workers suffered injuries after falling 25 feet from a section of scaffolding on West 54th Street near Sixth Avenue Wednesday evening, authorities said.

The extent of their injuries was not immediately clear, but they were not considered life threatening.

The men were lifting a power-washing machine to the scaffolding when the incident occurred about 5:10 p.m., fire officials said at the scene.

They had attached a rope to the machine and were hoisting it up when a piece of scaffolding gave way and the men fell to the sidewalk, officials and witnesses at the scene said.

A pair of restaurant workers next door said they saw the men laying motionless on the ground just after the incident.

The workers were trying to lift a power-washing machine to the scaffolding when it gave way, officials and witnesses said.
