MIDTOWN - Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains had delays at Penn Station on Tuesday morning after a person was struck and killed by an NJ Transit train in New Jersey, an Amtrak spokesman said.

The unidentified individual was fatally struck by an empty NJ Transit train near Elizabeth around 11 a.m., an Amtrak spokesman said.

It was not immediately known why the individual was on tracks.

A call to NJ Transit was not immediately returned.
