New Restaurant Set to Replace One Backed by Lady Gaga

UPPER WEST SIDE — A new restaurant is gearing up to replace an eatery that once counted pop mega-star Lady Gaga among its investors.

An establishment known only as Second Wind Restaurant LLC won Community Board 7's support Tuesday night for a liquor license at 70 W. 68th St., where Gaga-backed Vince & Eddie's operated until recently.

After Vince & Eddie's closed suddenly in March, Second Wind applied for a liquor license in the same space.

No one from Second Wind Restaurant showed up at the community board meeting. The new restaurant's attorney, New York Nightlife Association founder Bob Bookman, didn't respond to requests for comment.

Vince & Eddie's, just two blocks from Gaga's parents' apartment, was a family favorite for the "Born This Way" singer — whose real name is Stefani Germanotta.

Vince & Eddie's, a restaurant that Lady Gaga invested in, closed in March, and now it's poised to re-open.

Gaga's parents, Joe and Cynthia Germanotta, were co-owners in the restaurant and Gaga, who plugged Vince & Eddie's on her Facebook page, was a silent partner.

After news broke of Gaga's investment, fans bombarded the cozy restaurant with phone calls in search of the superstar, owner Peter Di Giuseppe told DNAinfo.

The new restaurant cleared a hurdle with Community Board 7 on Tuesday, but its liquor license still needs approval from the New York State Liquor Authority.
