CHELSEA — The NYPD arrested James Moorer, 20, in connection with a burglary he allegedly committed on West 25th Street in Chelsea on Christmas Day in 2009.

Police obtained DNA evidence that Moorer allegedly left on an orange juice carton at the scene, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

Moorer is suspected of stealing a computer, video camera, and a still camera from the W. 25th Street brownstone apartment on Dec. 25, 2009.

Building Supervisor Hanna Cheek told the Post the suspect allegedly broke in by kicking in an air-conditioner in the basement window. Moorer then found keys and entered the first floor apartment of Andy Wall and his now-wife Lita, who were away for the holiday.

Wall praised the police for finding Moorer, calling it a "great job," the Post reported. Wall also said that he didn’t expect to get anything back that was stolen, according to the report.

Investigators say the suspect acted alone, but Cheek told the paper she's convinced he had accomplices based on the noise she heard during the burglary.

Cheek called 911 when she realized the building had been broken into, the paper said. She also said that the burglar or burglars ran when the police arrived, and the later came back to finish stealing items in Wall's apartment.

Moorer has a record of 12 prior arrests, including grand larceny and assault, with an additional several charges of selling pot, and Moorer is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.
