CITY HALL — City Council Speaker Christine Quinn said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly is personally monitoring the situation on Christopher Street after a shocking riot at a Dunkin' Donuts was captured on film last month and first reported by DNAinfo.

Police have arrested three people so far in connection with the incident on May 16, when a group of two dozen transgender teens ransacked the donut shop at 75 Christopher St., overturning tables, hurling chairs at staff, upending coffee machines, and snatching pastries from behind the counter, according to the criminal complaint.

"I can tell you that the police commissioner is personally paying attention to the issues related to Dunkin' Donuts and to the situation on Christopher Street," Quinn said during an unrelated press conference Tuesday.

"We have given and continue to give the area special attention, and we've succeeded in identifying and arresting several suspects involved in the Dunkin' Donuts incident," NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Public Information Paul Browne said in an email.

The incident was the latest in a series of incidents on Christopher Street that prompted hundreds of residents and business owners to sign a petition calling on police to step up security in the neighborhood.

Quinn, whose district stretches through the Village, said that, in addition to a newly-appointed commanding officer, the 6th Precinct, which oversees the area, will also will be getting additional resources from the borough command to help keep the area safe.

"They've assured me, we will make sure that we have all the resources that we need to make sure that incidents do not get out of control," Quinn said.  The enforcement would make sure there would be "a very, very safe and pleasant summer in the Village."
