MIDTOWN — The Oscar-winning "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" will kick off Bryant Park's popular summer movie series, the park announced Thursday.
The 2011 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, set to start June 20, will include classics such as Marilyn Monroe's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes," Sidney Poitier's "In the Heat of the Night," Paul Newman's powerful "Cool Hand Luke," and Clint Eastwood's "Dirty Harry."
For those looking for laughs, "AIRPLANE!" is also set to land in early August.
The movies are screened each Monday evening on the lawn, which opens to the public at 5 p.m. Films begin after sunset, between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.
The announcement comes as the Bryant Park Corporation mulls a plan that could make beer and wine openly permissible during the screenings.
A full schedule of the films can be found here.
