LOWER EAST SIDE - A blaze erupted on the Lower East Side Saturday afternoon after construction workers hit an electrical line, officials said.

Flames shot up from the site at Essex Street, near Houston Street around 1:30 p.m.

There were no immediate reports of evacuations and fire department crews did not find elevated carbon monoxide levels.

There were also no injuries.
