CHELSEA — Food truck fanatics weary of traipsing to all corners of the city for their favorite taco, slushie or slice can look forward to an opportunity for one-stop dining in Chelsea.
The Zagat Food Truck Frenzy, slated for noon to 3 p.m. on May 18, will bring 20 top rated vendors to 21st and 22nd streets, between Tenth and Eleventh avenues.
Several of the participants will travel from the far corners of the city.
Patacon Pisao usually serves up its green plantain sandwiches, arepas and sweet corn cakes to Washington Heights denizens, while Pizza Moto is a staple at the Brooklyn Flea Market.
But more familiar favorites will also make a showing.
The Big Gay Ice Cream Truck (which will makes its season debut Tuesday and usually parks at Broadway and 17th St.) distinguishes itself with a mix of off-kilter toppings including wasabi pea dust, Nilla Wafers, olive oil and Italian grape syrup. The 2010 Vendy Award winning Kelvin Natural Slush Co. is based at the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market and will also be part of the festival.
One ticket buys attendees a four-course lunch at trucks of their choice. Tickets will cost $18 on the day, but paying online prior to May 8 will lower the price to $12.
