SOHO — A cop opened fire on an out of control driver after the motorist tried to mow him down outside the Holland Tunnel Friday night, according to a published report.

The Port Authority officer approached the car on foot, a white Jeep Grand Cherokee, around 6 p.m. after it made an illegal lane change on the Jersey side, just past the toll booth, according to the New York Post.

The driver sped away and the cop, who had grabbed onto the car, was dragged, the report said.

Inside the tunnel, the officer was slammed into a wall and opened fire five times, hitting two of the car's occupants, one in the shoulder and the other in the stomach, according to The Post.

The wounded suspects tore away, crashing into a number of cars before taking off on foot.

The trail of mayhem ended when they were collared by cops on the Manhattan side, the report said.

The officer was left with bruises and the suspects were in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.

Traffic was halted for hours during the investigation.
