MIDTOWN — It looks like local eateries see big potential in Times Square.

The Times Square Alliance has received dozens of responses to its request for proposals to operate up to five new food kiosks and a new food delivery service in the pedestrian plazas that run along Broadway between 42nd and 47th streets.

"We are extremely encouraged by the breadth and seriousness of the proposals we received," said Tim Tompkins, president of the alliance, which received a whopping 70 submissions from 47 applicants with different ideas for the square.

Spokesman Edward Borges declined to comment on any of the concepts before a final decision is made, but said a majority of the submissions came from local businesses in and around Times Square.

The alliance is now reviewing the options, which will be judged on their creativity, "contextual harmony" and how much revenue they'll raise.

It hopes to have service up and running by summertime.
