WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — Visions of candy-colored eggs are already dancing in the heads of Upper Manhattan kids as they prepare for the annual Fort Tryon Park Trust sponsored Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday.
The Easter Bunny, who will make a special appearance this year, has promised to leave 1,500 eggs on Billings Lawn for children aged 18 months to 7. The hunts will vary in difficulty according to age group.
Between hunts, kids can decorate eggs and get their faces painted or eat cupcakes, cookies, muffins and other treats from the bake sale.
Parents can also enter a raffle for prizes including a gift certificate to local Italian restaurant Saggio, a 4-pack of tickets to the Fort Tryon event Muffins in the Park (formerly known as Pancakes in the Park), and childbirth classes for expectant parents, among others.
