MANHATTAN — "30 Rock" fans may not have Liz Lemon to kick around any more on Thursday nights.

"30 Rock" co-star Alec Baldwin told New York Magazine that the beloved Manhattan-based series will be calling it quits at the end of next season.

Baldwin told CNN he would be leaving "30 Rock" when his contract expires in 2012. The veteran actor then revealed to New York Magazine that the show itself will also come to a close.

"Our show next year is our last year of the show," Baldwin told the magazine's Vulture blog. "Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing."

Lead actress Tina Fey, who plays quirky TGS producer Liz Lemon, has earned praise for her writing, producing and acting in the show.

"30 Rock" was an instant critical darling when it went on the air in 2006. It's won several Golden Globes and Emmy awards, including the Emmy for most Outstanding Comedy Series three straight times from 2007 to 2009. Fey and Baldwin have also picked up several individual awards for their acting in the show.
